Replenish establishes “Donate-What-You-Want” Payscale on Digital Downloads
As you may know, all of our releases are available for free stream and download directly on our website via Bandcamp, and as you may have noticed over the course of the last few years, we tend to do things a little different here at Replenish Records. We have been receiving a ton of emails asking why we don’t charge for our high-quality downloads, why we don’t offer an option to name your price so that our listeners can support both our artists and our label, and why we are essentially paying to share all of our releases with the entire world. It was somewhere between answering these questions time and time again, exchanging incredibly lengthy emails about our ethics when it comes to charging for ones and zeroes, and issuing refunds to those who decided to donate to us anonymously via PayPal when we finally decided to give in to these requests - albeit with a catch.
On January 1st, we established a “donate-what-you-want” pay scale on all of our digital releases with 100% of the proceeds being donated to a number of different nonprofit organizations all over the globe in the name of our artists. Don’t worry! Our entire catalogue will always be available for free stream and download, just now with the option to name-your-price and donate to local organizations that have been selected by our artists, including Anarchist Black Cross Federation, Animal Rescue Corps, Boxer Luv, Center for Biological Diversity, Compassion Over Killing, HugAbull Advocacy & Rescue Society, Mayo Street Arts, Provid Animal Tijuana, Samuel Mooney Fund, Still Wild Still Threatened, United Way of Central Oklahoma, Wiggle Butts Bully Rescue, and more! We have also teamed with Moshpit Tragedy Records at http://www.moshpittragedy.com to distribute our entire catalogue of digital releases under a similar pay scale to benefit the Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
Replenish Records is a collective of artists making music to inspire social change, and this is more or less our way of ensuring that we are not only raising awareness of important issues, but also raising the much needed funds to support those who specialize in direct action. So while you may not be supporting us directly, you are supporting the change that we could only hope to achieve by offering our music for free and spreading our message as far and as wide as possible, and that’s seriously all we could ever ask.
