Preorders for the Vestiges / Panopticon Split LP and The Descent Of Man DLP/2CD/2CS have been posted on our website at http://www.replenishrecords.com

“A new split LP from two of the best bands in extreme music today - Washington D.C.’s Vestiges and Kentucky’s one-man band Panopticon. Two tracks from Vestiges, and three from Panopticon, all of which represent some of each band’s strongest output to date. Tracks “VII” and “VIII” are the latest in Vestiges ongoing narrative centered around the relationship between man and nature. These tracks are definitely the darkest and strongest in their already powerful discography. Absolutely mind-blowing. The Panopticon tracks are also very impressive, and are some of the most beautiful and captivating material that Austin has released. “A Letter” and “The Eulogy” sound heavily influenced by post-rock, and have a similar vibe to the songs on the recent split with Wheels Within Wheels. Soaked in atmosphere, melancholy, and decidedly poignant. The third Panopticon track is a very dark and emotional cover of Suicide Nation - the punk/metal band from Tempe, Arizona that broke up in the early 2000’s - called “Collapse and Die.” If you’re familiar with the original, you’ll know that this is really terrific; it pays homage to the original while bringing its own fury and meaning.” http://www.hammersmashedsound.com

Mastered by Colin Marston (Altar of Plagues, Krallice, Rosetta), the split has been one of the most anticipated records of the past year and is now available through Replenish Records on both black wax (limited to 600) and transparent blue/black splatter wax (limited to 300 and exclusive to our label) housed in a gatefold jacket. Please note that preorders for this item will ship in two to four weeks. For more information about the bands, please visit http://www.facebook.com/wearevestiges and http://www.facebook.com/thetruepanopticon

“The DIY ethic has long been a tremendous ideal that has always appealed to my often times ridiculous sensibilities, but what can I say besides that there is just something to a band putting their blood sweat and tears into a project from the first inkling of inspiration to breaking open that box of records from the record plant; the whole project seems more genuine or more “real” if you will, and not that all bands who do release records themselves are always doing it with DIY intentions more like a simple necessity. When the download for The Descent Of Man first started making the rounds on the world wide internet at the end of 2010, I immediately took notice of Vestiges due to the mammoth blast of devastating sound that the band conjures from their instruments and the brute force of the vocals that come screaming from my speakers. Ambitious, epic, grand, are all adjectives that one could use when describing The Descent Of Man, and those would certainly not be hyperbolic fodder given by an over fawning critic; instead, though, I would be more apt to say that Vestiges seemingly lay down a challenging record full of bombast (check out the opening two minutes of “I” for a perfect example and the explosive “V” for another great example) that is a dynamic roller coaster ride that hits on all of the touchstones that this emerging style. This is certainly a polished effort as the band seamlessly transitions from song to song without batting an eyelash (something some bands never quite master) while still making each track a unique piece of music and the melodic aspects of the music fit perfectly with the crunch of the guitars and the pounding of the drums (the relentless drumming in “II” is awesome, so go there to hear what I am saying). So many great records have been self released in the last few years, and, partially, this trend has something to do with how most record labels actually are clueless on how to operate in the age of digital file sharing, while the ones that do get it are overwhelmed with releases as it is; on the other hand, some artists do generally want to release records themselves, and I have personally benefited from these situations by hearing great music and seeing amazing packaging. The Descent Of Man from Vestiges is no exception and there are still copies of this release available if you do take the plunge and up immersing yourself in the record as much as I have (this honestly sounds awesome on a turntable), so do yourself the favor of checking this beast out or sleep on it and forever hate yourself for it.” http://www.scenepointblank.com

Remastered by Mell Dettmer (Alda, Sunn, Thou, Wolves In The Throne Room), the album has also been carefully reamped and remixed to reproduce the crushing atmosphere of the band’s live performance. The Descent Of Man has been sold out and nowhere to be found for close to a year, but is now available through Replenish Records on both black wax (limited to 400) and bone wax (limited to 100 with a screenprinted D-Side) housed in a custom gatefold jacket. The album is also available on a Digipak 2CD (limited to 500) and an Amaray 2CS (limited to 250), which also features tracks from the band’s first series of splits including VI, VII, VIII, and Zombie. Please note that preorders for this item will ship in four to six weeks. For more information, please visit http://www.facebook.com/wearevestiges

100% of the proceeds from all digital downloads of the Vestiges / Panopticon Split will be donated to the United Way of Central Oklahoma to assist in recovery efforts for those who have been affected by the devastation in and around Moore, OK. With your help, Replenish Records and our artists have raised well over $800 in just five months in support of nonprofit organizations all over the world who specialize in direct action, so we couldn’t be more thankful for your profound sense of generosity and willingness to embrace our rather nontraditional approach to being an independent record label. For more information and to learn how you can make a difference, please visit http://replenishrecords.tumblr.com/post/44277208560/replenish-establishes-donate-what-you-want

Replenish Records Invades Europe

Replenish Records invaded Europe this summer when Vestiges, Masakari, and Tempest all decided to pack their bags and hit the road overseas in support of their recent releases with our label. The bands were on tour for over one hundred days combined and performed on every corner of the continent in more than twenty different countries, including the United Kingdom and Ireland. The following footage was filmed by Vestiges during various festivals over the summer when the bands just so happened to cross paths on the road. Enjoy!

Watch Vestiges perform “I” from The Descent Of Man at Shakshuka Festival in Dresden, Germany!  A very special repress of The Descent Of Man will be released next month on vinyl, compact disc, and cassette to celebrate the second anniversary of the album’s debut.  Keep an eye out for preorders in the weeks to come for both the repress and their split with Panopticon at http://www.replenishrecords.com

Watch Masakari perform “X Pain Conceived As A Tool” from the Masakari / Tempest Benefit Split at Never Stop The Madness Festival in Liege, Belgium!  Please forgive us for the poor video quality, but we couldn’t pass up posting footage from a festival that took place on the inside of a boat docked along the Maas River in Belgium.  Over half of the benefit splits have been sold in only a few months, so be sure to get your hands on a copy today at http://www.replenishrecords.com

Watch Tempest perform “Death Rattle” from the Masakari / Tempest Benefit Split at New Noise Festival in Karlsruhe, Germany!  100% of the proceeds from the benefit split will be donated to pit bull rescue and rehabilitation centers in the United States and Canada, so please order today at http://www.replenishrecords.com

PREORDER Masakari / Tempest Benefit Split EP & Little Sister EP

Preorders for the Masakari / Tempest Benefit Split EP and the Little Sister EP are now available on our website at http://www.replenishrecords.com

Formed in Ohio in 2006, Masakari is a five-piece band from Cleveland that unleashes a devastating blend of hardcore, d-beat, and crust with their own point-blank, by-the-throat approach to these classic styles. The band wastes no time ripping our government, corporate, and religious institutions to shreds while raising awareness for both human and animal rights amidst crushing waves of pure aural aggression. The split features both an unreleased and a live version of “X. Pain Conceived As A Tool” from their album The Prophet Feeds.

Formed in Canada during the fall of 2007, Tempest is a five-piece band from Vancouver, British Columbia that combines elements of hardcore, crust, and post-metal into a cathartic wall of thunderous riffs and searing vocals. The band’s relentless brand of dark hardcore is driven by the issues of animal rights, overpopulation, and religion to create a truly claustrophobic, exhausting, and terrifying musical experience. The split features both a remastered and a live version of “Death Rattle” from their album Passages.

The Masakari / Tempest Benefit Split EP is now available through Replenish Records on 7” vinyl with a double-sided foldover jacket (limited to 500). 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Wiggle Butts Bully Rescue of Cleveland, Ohio and HugAbull Advocacy & Rescue Society of Vancouver, BC. Replenish Records hopes to raise not only funds for these unbelievably compassionate organizations, but also awareness about breed specific legislation and our responsibilities as humans to our animal companions.

Formed in Ohio in 2010, Little Sister is a five-piece band from Cleveland that combines elements of hardcore, crust, and death metal to create a vicious tension between underlying melodies and undeniable power. The band tackles the issues of war, oppression, and alienation in a semi-detached but realistic form to a completely dark, brooding, and devastating soundtrack. Little Sister’s self-titled EP is now available through Replenish Records on 7” vinyl with a double-sided foldover jacket (limited to 250 clear and 250 black). The first 50 preorders will receive a custom silkscreened slip cover that doubles as back patch (pictured above). Don’t sleep!

Replenish Records to release Vestiges / Panopticon Split LP

Replenish Records will be releasing a split between Vestiges and Panopticon later this year.  The split will feature two new tracks by Vestiges, as well as two original tracks and a cover of Suicide Nation’s “Collapse & Die” by Panopticon.

image

Formed in 2007 in Kentucky, Panopticon is a one-man band from Louisville that seamlessly combines elements of black metal, bluegrass, and folk using a myriad of wind, string, and key instruments. The band’s unique brand of atmospheric black metal is steeped in history, mythology, and a well-educated philosophy of anarchism in support of a small, yet strong community.

Listen to “Seeing” from the Panopticon / Skagos split below.

Formed in Washington DC in 2010, Vestiges set out to incorporate elements of hardcore, black metal, crust, d-beat, screamo, and post-rock to articulate their message both musically and lyrically through a series of albums that follow a central narrative about the relationship between man and nature. The band questions man’s evolution as progress while cryptically referencing a broad spectrum of sociopolitical issues including industrialization, militarization, overpopulation, theism, and both human and animal rights.

Listen to “VI” from the Vestiges / Ghaust split below.
