Preorders for the Masakari / Tempest Benefit Split EP and the Little Sister EP are now available on our website at http://www.replenishrecords.com

Formed in Ohio in 2006, Masakari is a five-piece band from Cleveland that unleashes a devastating blend of hardcore, d-beat, and crust with their own point-blank, by-the-throat approach to these classic styles. The band wastes no time ripping our government, corporate, and religious institutions to shreds while raising awareness for both human and animal rights amidst crushing waves of pure aural aggression. The split features both an unreleased and a live version of “X. Pain Conceived As A Tool” from their album The Prophet Feeds.
Formed in Canada during the fall of 2007, Tempest is a five-piece band from Vancouver, British Columbia that combines elements of hardcore, crust, and post-metal into a cathartic wall of thunderous riffs and searing vocals. The band’s relentless brand of dark hardcore is driven by the issues of animal rights, overpopulation, and religion to create a truly claustrophobic, exhausting, and terrifying musical experience. The split features both a remastered and a live version of “Death Rattle” from their album Passages.
The Masakari / Tempest Benefit Split EP is now available through Replenish Records on 7” vinyl with a double-sided foldover jacket (limited to 500). 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Wiggle Butts Bully Rescue of Cleveland, Ohio and HugAbull Advocacy & Rescue Society of Vancouver, BC. Replenish Records hopes to raise not only funds for these unbelievably compassionate organizations, but also awareness about breed specific legislation and our responsibilities as humans to our animal companions.

Formed in Ohio in 2010, Little Sister is a five-piece band from Cleveland that combines elements of hardcore, crust, and death metal to create a vicious tension between underlying melodies and undeniable power. The band tackles the issues of war, oppression, and alienation in a semi-detached but realistic form to a completely dark, brooding, and devastating soundtrack. Little Sister’s self-titled EP is now available through Replenish Records on 7” vinyl with a double-sided foldover jacket (limited to 250 clear and 250 black). The first 50 preorders will receive a custom silkscreened slip cover that doubles as back patch (pictured above). Don’t sleep!

Preorders for the Sky Burial Where Four Rivers Flow LP and the Alda Tahoma DLP have been posted on our website at http://www.replenishrecords.com

Formed in Tennessee in early 2009, Sky Burial is a four-piece band from Nashville that combines elements of doom, post-metal, and post-rock to create a somber, yet peaceful atmosphere of minimalistic arrangements and passionate segues. The band’s heavily instrumental approach to post-metal is sparsely decorated with messages of self-betterment and hope. The band’s debut full-length, Where Four Rivers Flow, is now available through Replenish Records on 180gram vinyl with heavyweight jacket, an insert, and a custom silkscreened polybag (limited to 500).

Formed in Washington during the fall of 2007, Alda is a four-piece band from Tacoma that plays a style of black metal that is considered to be of the Cascadian ilk. The band is a collective project that is dedicated to the reclamation of Lost Wisdom and the application of a lifestyle founded on respect and communication with the soils on which they dwell. Tahoma was originally only pressed on cassette, but is now available through Replenish Records on double vinyl with heavyweight gatefold (limited to 300).
Replenish Records will be releasing a split between Vestiges and Panopticon later this spring. The split will feature two new tracks by Vestiges, as well as two original track and a cover of Camel’s “Song Within A Song” by Panopticon.

Formed in 2007 in Kentucky, Panopticon is a one-man band from Louisville that seamlessly combines elements of black metal, bluegrass, and folk using a myriad of wind, string, and key instruments. The band’s unique brand of atmospheric black metal is steeped in history, mythology, and a well-educated philosophy of anarchism in support of a small, yet strong community.
Listen to “Seeing” from the Panopticon / Skagos split below.

Formed in Washington DC in 2010, Vestiges set out to incorporate elements of hardcore, black metal, crust, d-beat, screamo, and post-rock to articulate their message both musically and lyrically through a series of albums that follow a central narrative about the relationship between man and nature. The band questions man’s evolution as progress while cryptically referencing a broad spectrum of sociopolitical issues including industrialization, militarization, overpopulation, theism, and both human and animal rights.

MetalSucks and BrooklynVegan covered both performances by Vestiges at the CVLT Nation / Century Media showcase with Andrew WK and the BrooklynVegan showcase with Alcest during SXSW in Austin, Texas last week.
MetalSucks
Vestiges, on the other hand, I do remember being fantastic. I’d written about Vestiges in an Unsigned and Unholy column so I was especially excited to see them in the flesh. Their doomy but energetic live show did not disappoint; this is a band that could perhaps use a little fine-tuning on their songwriting, but if they’re paired with the right producer next time around the sky is the limit.

Vestiges opened the party at 12:15 to a relatively large crowd of people (considering the inevitable hangovers from the night prior), and proceeded to wake us all with their spacey hybrid of black metal, hardcore, doom, and crust. A truly amazing band that is definitely worth looking out for.

With a zillion things going on the evening of March 15th during SXSW, I crossed paths with Greg Cristman at Beerland after seeing the amazing Early Graves, crushing newcomers Code Orange Kids, Sky Burial, Tiger Flowers, and The Atlas Moth. His night until then consisted of Texas crossover MVPs Power Trip, the always fun Screaming Females and Ringworm at the venue up until that moment. He then promptly left to catch Hull and Fear at nearby Red 7. I stayed to see Pallbearer. Confused? Pictures of our collective night at Red 7, Club 1808, and Beerland continue below.

The band’s willingness to confront their fear of our inevitable collapse is met with unforgiving intensity and the sheer passion for self-expression in a world plagued by war, famine, and disease.
